The intent is to help, educate and provide safety and to help people from climbing over each other. Americans like to hurt and punish. Japanese rules can even be given with respect or humor. Do not be afraid of this place because they are Japanese rules, not American rules. Sometimes, Japanese people get it right! Also, this is more than just a place to stay. It is like a museum, so you get an experience, included. Like a 2 4 1 deal. Asian customer service doesn't discriminate based on social class, like American customer service. I think poor people are still Okyaku sama (honorable customer), just like rich people.

The staff is incredible. Every single one makes their work exceptionally good. Breakfast is delicious. I don't like scramble but they do it just perfect (btw you can get eggs not scrambled, so I did it just out of curiosity). There is enough of common space: showers, tables, etc. Wi-fi works perfect for me (though I don't consume too much traffic). It's near the Walmart, a couple of other stores and some restaurants.

Be aware that the main tourist street of cancun is about a 20 25 minutes drive. It's not a party hostel or something like that.
